GCSE Chemistry is part of our science suite, developed with teachers to inspire and challenge students of all abilities and aspirations.
The content starts with fundamental aspects of chemistry such as atomic structure, bonding and the properties of matter, and builds to topics in which the fundamentals are applied such as quantitative chemistry and equilibria. The eight required practicals are linked to areas of the content where it would be most appropriate to teach them to embed skills and knowledge.
The clear, two-column format lists what students need to know and be able to do, with key opportunities for skills development signposted throughout. Further sections outline the requirements for the skills in working scientifically, maths and practical assessment.
Six of the required practicals are common with the Combined Science specifications, which helps with co-teaching.
