Qualification update

Our EPQ provision is changing. We have refreshed the EPQ specification (H857) for first teaching in September 2017 and for first assessment in June 2018.

Our Extended Project Qualification (EPQ) H857 is now available. We have updated the EPQ specification and marking criteria following feedback from you to make sure it’s as straightforward as possible to deliver and still provides your students the opportunity to express their creativity in completing a project they choose. You can use our updated EPQ (H857) from September 2017.

Our EPQ can provide your students with the skills that universities and employers look for and will help them to stand out from the crowd in their future careers. Students can enjoy the freedom of working in their own way as they undertake a project based on a subject they are taking or an area of personal interest and all while gaining up to a possible 28 UCAS points!

Our Foundation Project and Higher Project qualifications are all eligible for funding in Wales.

Why choose OCR’s Extended Project qualification?

  • Our EPQ is straightforward for you to assess, with one set of criteria for any type of project.
  • Our EPQ is simple for you to administer and track students’ work, with minimal paperwork. Our Project Progression Record is only a few pages.
  • Our EPQ gives your students the opportunity to gain a range of skills including project management, research and presentation skills.
